Big Guy is really excited to be doing his speech to students this morning. All those bright, eager, young faces ready to learn reading, writing and arithmetic from the finest teachers available.
And as soon as he's finished with that speech to the kids in China, he'll speak to the American kids about whatever it is the NEA approved for him to say.

Will he include the photo from your last blog? Students would really like to see that.
ReplyDeleteIt should be you giving the speech, not him. You we can believe--him we can't!
ReplyDeleteAccording to one Dem pundit, "children will be smarter" after hearing the speech.
ReplyDeleteJust like that! (finger-snap) - instant intelligence imparted on the children.
He is "gifted", don't you know.
Ok, we can have a trade-off:
Obama is allowed to bore our children this ONE time with this ONE speech. (NO MORE)
In return:
He stays off the airwaves UNLESS there is a true national emergency.
Last minute change - Chavez has agreed to step in for Obama. But no worries - Hugo has promised to stick with Stone's MSM-approved script. Five Stars!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Michael Moore will be providing a rousing closing statement - it's up in the air right now as to whether he'll threaten to eat the kids or just sit on them.
Whatever the case, the White House has promised that the kids will not be corrupted by God or country. Parents can be safe in the knowledge that it's all about Obama.
crashx - all they will have to do is show a picture of Moore and it will scare the kids! They will run screaming from the room.
ReplyDeleteAs for Chavez, that's a good idea. He can give the speech in Spanish for all the little children of illegals who fill our schools and are provided with an education at taxpayer expense.
TOTUS, Don't let BO forget to send a link to Queen Elizabeth so she can download this speech to her Ipod and add it to her collection.
Besides, surely the Queen will want to air the speech for Britain's schoolchildren, too.
If she doesn't want to, then does that make her a racist, too? Or does it just mean that she doesn't want British schoolchildren to become smarter?
about your big speech, this is the letter we emailed to our district superintendent:
ReplyDeleteAlton,
I wanted to make you aware of my opposition to next week's broadcast by the President of the United States to my elementary and junior high children. While no one knows the exact text of the speech, this unprecedented presentation gives me serious cause for concern. Here are a few of my issues.
First, if the President is simply delivering an innocent "stay in school" message, he is requiring Katy ISD and all other districts nationwide to use precious time and other resources just to deliver a message they hear frequently from people closer to them. Hearing such a message means more from parents, family, and teachers locally. This address is, at best, a waste of time and money.
Second, few people on either side of the political spectrum would argue the fact that our current President excels at campaigning and persuasion. And given the massive programs implemented, pending implementation, and proposed by this administration, it is logical that the President has been using any and all avenues to reach the American public to convince them of his programs. As an staunch opponent of higher taxes, larger federal deficits, unfunded mandates, and expanding entitlement programs, I would be extremely upset if Katy ISD was the vehicle for the President to advance his economic agenda.
Third, some of the teacher tools that are on the Department of Education website contain talking points that I find patently offensive and contrary to our basic form of government. Questions such as: "Why is it important that we listen to the president and other elected officials" and "What is the president asking me to do?" imply that we, as citizens, should look to those in power for answers and guidance. Quite the opposite is true; this nation is run by men and women who were chosen by the citizens to serve them for short periods of time. During that limited tenure, these elected officials represent the people of the United States. It is the President and other elected officials who should be listening to the citizenry, not the other way around.
Finally, I know that the President's supporters will argue that a message about "persisting and staying in school" is a noble message and one that our children should hear from many sources, and I agree. But I am uncomfortable with any politician, regardless of office or political party, that would use the public school system and my children as an opportunity to stay in the public eye. There is a reason that this event is unprecedented; every President until now has seen it as inappropriate to start their next election campaign by aiming at high school students who will be eligible to vote in 2012. I think this event is narcissistic and improper.
Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot allow my children to attend school on September 8th. Unless the district makes the decision to forgo the President's address entirely, I cannot subject my children to either (a) the address itself or (b) the possible classroom or teacher stigma of being excluded from the event during the day. I would suggest that Katy ISD recommend parents and caregivers allow their children to watch the address at home via the replay link already detailed at the Department of Education website.
Thank you for your consideration and time,
Also, TOTUS, who do you think Big Guy will appoint as the Hygiene Czar after he launches the position today in the speech when he tells the kids to wash their hands?
A good day to ditch.
ReplyDeleteTOTUS, are you sure it is legal for the White House to send materials to be used as a national lesson plan? A friend sent this to me and I reprinted it on my blog:
ReplyDeleteB. Hussein Obama has clearly broken the law, regarding the materials sent to schools, for his speech on September 8th, 2009. The instruction of what to do and how to do it is also in violation of this code:
20 U.S.C. § 3403. (Pub.L. 96-88, Title I, § 103, Oct. 17, 1979, 93 Stat. 670) United States Code Title 20. Education Chapter 48. Department of Education Subchapter I. General Provisions § 3403. Relationship with States (a) Rights of local governments and educational institutions It is the intention of the Congress in the establishment of the Department to protect the rights of State and local governments and public and private educational institutions in the areas of educational policies and administration of programs and to strengthen and improve the control of such governments and institutions over their own educational programs and policies. The establishment of the Department of Education shall not increase the authority of the Federal Government over education or diminish the responsibility for education which is reserved to the States and the local school systems and other instrumentalities of the States. (b) Curriculum, administration, and personnel; library resources No provision of a program administered by the Secretary or by any other officer of the Department shall be construed to authorize the Secretary or any such officer to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system, over any accrediting agency or association, or over the selection or content of library resources, textbooks, or other instructional materials by any educational institution or school system, except to the extent authorized by law.
Given that ignorance serves as no excuse for breaking the law, combined with the fact that obama is an attorney, and if you hear him tell it, a Constitutional attorney, he has no excuse for his actions. Like any criminal, B. Hussein Obama, should be held accountable for his actions.
Great letter, Amy! Did you get a response?
ReplyDeleteFOTS - did you know this:
=== when President George H.W. Bush delivered a similar speech on October 1, 1991, from Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington DC, Democrats, then the majority party in Congress, not only denounced Bush's speech -- they also ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate its production and later summoned top Bush administration officials to Capitol Hill for an extensive hearing on the issue. ===

TOTUS - you got a mention in an opinion piece today in the Wash Times!:
=== Pruden: A crucial week for Obama's teleprompter
This is a big week for the president's teleprompter. He's first taking it across the Potomac for a speech urging schoolchildren to wash their hands, study hard and stay in school. ===
I particularly like this part:
=== Mr. Obama, safe behind the presidential shield, nevertheless got a taste of constituent anger at a distance when he tried to recruit America's schoolkids into the Obama cult of hope, change, peace and other vaguely good stuff. Write a letter to yourself, his Education Ministry told the kids in "a lesson plan" distributed to classrooms across the country, and tell the president what you can do to help him. The operative word here, clearly, is "him." This sounded a lot like a cult of presidential personality to millions of American parents - the bigots, evildoers and Nazis of the fevered and frightened Democratic imagination. Promote your agenda, but not with my kids, the parents told the White House, loud and clear. ===

WriterX - Kids won't have the option to ditch in the Broward County (FL) school system. Watching the speech will be MANDATORY and kids who ditch "will be punished".
ReplyDeleteToday, Fox's Meaghan Kelly interviewed the Superintendent of BC Schools (the man who made it a mandate) and asked him why he madated it "since Arne Duncan (Sec of Ed) specifically stated that it was "NOT mandatory".
The guy's answer - "This is a 'teachable moment'".
Maybe I should have said, his "non-answer". Whatever. That was his answer to almost every question that he was asked.
SO, what is BO teaching?
And, considering the information provided to us this morning by Opus# 6 (thank you!), doesn't BO "teaching" our children further violate US Code? Actually, BO isn't teaching anything in his speech - it is what comes BEFORE and AFTER the speech. It is what the Sec of Ed instructed the school districts/teachers to do that is so wrong.
I think Congress should hold hearings and investigate the Secretary of Education's violation of the US Code. Don't you? I'm sure that the Dems now in Congress will agree.
Not hardly.
This is changing the subject, but I have to get this off of my chest!
ReplyDeleteYesterday on Cavuto, there was a young woman who worked for some group, I don't remember her name or the group name, but that isn't important.
What is important is that the group this young woman belongs to is "working to reduce the incidences of obesity in the U.S.". That is a good thing, I suppose, but what they advocate infringes on our rights.
They were discussing the program in the UK HCS where obese children are forced to attend "fat camps" to learn how to eat properly and how to lose weight.
Her position/ her groups position on this? It is a good thing. People who are obese should be forced to learn good eating habits. And that taxpayer money should be used to this end. And, any who are enrolled in any public health care who refuse to be taught these things and refuse to adopt good eating habits - then they should be kicked off of the roles of Medicaid and Medicare and not provided any health care services. AT ALL.
Now, imagine this - a young, slim, twenty-something preaching about obesity. What does she know about it? It is easy for her to talk about it, she probably has a great metabolism; inherited the "skinny" gene from her parents; has never borne children; can afford to shop for organic, less fattening foods; is in perfect health; etc.
But what about those people who have glandular problems? Those who's family tend towards being large people? Those who take medication (like steroids) that affect their metabolism?
And what about all the additives that are being put in our foods that affect our metabolism? (food enhancers like MSG?) there is a lot of info out there these days about how these affect our bodies and cause us to retain weight.
But, most importantly, what about FREEDOM OF CHOICE?
every time I see a "skinny minnie" on tv talking about this it really makes me angry!
Jamie...when I was young, I always wanted to have a "big brother." Now it seems my wishes have come true--in a way. Alas!
ReplyDeleteExcellent letter Amy and a great point about wasting money I had not thought of that angle but it is one we can ALL relate to.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, that's funny, Darlynn. But sad. I'll bet you wished for a Big Brother that was warm and caring, supportive and protective of his little sister .....
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, that's not what you ended up with.
Now we have a Big Brother that preaches to us to be "our brother's keeper".
Little did we know that he meant HIM and his policies - be supportive of Big Brother's Big Government!
Well, you know what they say:
Be careful what you wish for.
bettyanne, Here is an opinion piece by Victor Davis Hanson that would be PERFECT reading material for your ranting and raving friend from the other day -
ReplyDelete=== Once Upon a Time . . .
Whatever happened to the old Barack Obama?
By Victor Davis Hanson
Once upon a time, a fresh new politician, Barack Obama — black, young, eloquent, and hip — soared with rhetoric about hope and change. The people were mesmerized. What a contrast with the tongue-tied outgoing president, George W. Bush, and his unpopular wars in Iraq and Afghanistan!
Presidential Candidate Obama sensed their ecstasy, and so he made two great promises:
1. Whatever Bush was, he would not be, and
2. despite the right-wing slander about his former intimacy with Bill Ayers, the Reverend Wright, Father Pfleger, Rashid Khalidi, and all his other old Chicago radical friends, Obama would be a centrist, a cooler version of Bill Clinton. ===
link - http://tiny.cc/cBecB
All those people who voted for Obama and expected him to live up to his campaign promises should read this.
VDH says something about Obama supporters that is similar to what I said the other night (about your friend):
=== Once upon a time the people deluded themselves into thinking a suave extremist was to be their nuts-and-bolts centrist. Now they don’t know whether to be mad at him or themselves — or both. ===
Thomas Sowell points out something that I think WE are all aware of, but a lot of folks are not:
ReplyDelete=== If the urgency to pass the Health Care legislation were to deal with a problem immediately, then why postpone for years the date when the legislation would go into effect — specifically, until the year AFTER the next presidential election?
If this is such an desperately needed program, why wait for years to put it into effect? And if the public is going to benefit from this, why not let them experience those benefits BEFORE the next presidential election? ===
I think WE know the answer to that.
Ask the people who so ardently support the Obama plan and see if they have an answer.
Or just send them this link and let them read it and ponder the answer for themselves ....
link - http://tiny.cc/GoQB2
BTW - the Cap & Trade bill passed by the House (and currently in the Senate) is set up the very same way - to take effect AFTER the next Presidential election and, coincidentally, after most Senators come up for re-election.
Verification word = whirat
That's MY question (and it sounds like a southern phrase) - WHERE (u) AT?
Why, HERE y'all are! I thought TOTUS had written just one new post----"Which Public Option...?"----so that's the one to which I responded. I wondered why so few FOTs were writing today!
ReplyDeleteI saw the Drudge article re. TOTUS before I read this thread just now, and I'm not surprised that Jamie noted it VERY early this a.m. She's a busy reader, as usual!
;->
Sure wish BO or any other public official could just SNAP! and make American students smarter----but BO would have to start at home, with a SNAP! at his wife. Read her papers in college: DU-ULL, sentence fragments, run-on sentences, etc. Ack!
So what's the word, crashx? How many kids did Michael Moore eat? I bet he's angling to get the Hygiene Czar position, so he can sabotage it (at least for HIS "diet"). Just pray HE isn't made your Big Brother, Darlynn! YIPES!
I sure hope Queen Elizabeth is enjoying BO's speech, Jamie. Maybe her intelligence has increased today, too. BO will claim it for his List of Miracles, foreshadowing his ascension to Saint.
Amy, I loved your letter! What response have you received?
FOTs parents: did your children attend school, and if so, how did they react to BO's speech?
Opus#6, tell us about the first five works, okay? (smile) OH, and good point about how BO's speech WAS politicking, thus illegal. (Note the commie spelling: good, hunh?)
Hey - I didn't know about a NEWER post! oh, pooh. lol Here I have been, posting to myself all day.....
ReplyDeleteI read about what Opus#6 posted about in an online news article, so its out there for all to see, about the "possible violation of US Code".
Just now checking my email and got this information from AmeriPAC -
=== Obama was an active member of the Chicago Democratic Socialist Party. Web Bloggers Unearthed the Evidence Buried Deep by a Liberal Media that Calls Obama God.
Socialist "New Party" Connections to Obama included in this document:
Obama member of the Socialist Party
Obama contract with the Socialist Party
Obama support of and by the Socialist Party
Obama Socialist Party connection to ACORN
Obama Connection to ACORN
Obama Connection to Castro
William Ayers Connection to the Socialist Party
William Ayers Connection to Castro
President Barack Obama was a member of the socialist New Party during the 1990s, according to new evidence unearthed by web bloggers. Obama received the Socialist party's endorsement for his state Senate run in 1996.
Everything is documented at websites within the Chicago Democratic Socialist Party archives.
The Democratic Socialist Party of America published in their July/August Edition of New Ground 47 Newsletter.
"The Chicago New Party is increasingly becoming a viable political organization ..."
The New Party has continued to solidify this base ..."
"winning electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NEW PARTY membership meeting on April 11th 1996 to express their gratitude. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration." ===
This comes as no surprise. If AmeriPAC sends me a link to the actual document to which they refer, I'll post it.
Here is a link to their website:

[SNAP!] THAT is what little Barry Soetoro was doing at 0430 (Another BIG FAT LIE) -- having fly catching lessons.
ReplyDeleteHe was practicing to be the local champion. He came in second. To a Christian. Ever since, he's been on a vendetta.
LOL, TWW you always have me rolling in the floor, laughing out LOUD!
ReplyDeleteCool!
